Fieldwork is looking, analysing and researching ideas and issues pertinent to the Merchant City and its current programme of regeneration. A set of six strategies have been defined by the artist and architect - these are:

• the route                            

• the geneology of spaces

• greening

• lighting

• features and events

• the art zone

What lies beneath the skin? Addressing issues of identity and place - what defines a place and what sustains it - studying maps - investigating the geographical and historical layers.

The research, consultations, photographs and strategies will all be collated and published in a catalogue. An exhibition condenses this information into a series of photographs by the artist and a series of drawings by the architect and a pilot project combining artistic and architectural ideas will be presented on a site within the Merchant City.
